About Autumn Weaves
We create great, hand-made duvet covers and comforter covers for your bed. Our designs will bring your love of nature and the environment into your home.
And the best part? Every duvet cover will be made of environmentally-friendly material! We will use recycled fabrics that are saved from the landfill and ensure that the energy and resources used to create that fabric will be maximized by creating heirloom duvet covers that will be passed on from one generation to the next. If we do use freshly made material it will only be that made from a renewable resource that has been cultivated, manufactured and shipped in an environmentally-friendly fashion.
You buy from us and you reduce your carbon footprint and support businesses working to help our environment! Sweet!
Sustainability is the core defining direction of Autumn Weaves. And we don’t mean just environmentally-friendly stuff, we mean the entire spectrum of sustainability: sustainable economics and sustainable community in addition to sustainable environment. We have a passion for creating great companies that will be a great place to work and be a proof of concept to other companies that “Hey! You can be generous to your employees AND be successful!” We believe that creating a healthy and happy community of employees in a highly successful company will help us to strengthen our economy which will create access to more resources that will enable our society to execute upon environmentally sustainable practices.
We’re a young company, so we may not have a large collection of designs right now, but we will! If you like the idea of being able to get environmentally-friendly duvet covers, be sure to follow us so you’ll be able to jump on a quality, handmade duvet cover that you LOVE as soon as its available.
"We" is currently just "me"
I kept using “we” and “our” in the company description above, but to be honest Autumn Weaves is just one person — me! — and a few passionate business advisers. This is a new business that still in its infancy — nay — we’re still just a bun in the oven! In fact, I haven’t yet created the first product let alone sold anything.
"So why do you have this website?" you may be asking. I am confident this business will work out. I have learned a lot about running a business and I have a clear idea of how to get this business ramped up and running, sending duvet covers to customers within just 3 months.
"Paying customers in just a few months? How is that possible?" I am sure you are now looking doubtfully at this page muttering this. Well, that is what this website is starting out as: a place to tell you, dear reader, exactly what I am doing to build, grow, and scale a home-based crafting business on a shoe-string budget.
"That’s ridiculous. You can’t both start a business in just a few months AND on a shoe-string budget!" you’re now rolling your eyes and saying this with a chuckle. I admit, most people can’t start a business like this so quickly and with such little money. But most people aren’t me. I have worked for several small businesses, already have run a mildly successful small business, in addition to previously failing to get a business past the starting gate. I am highly technically proficient, a software programmer and I know the magical secrets of the internet. I also have been trained in design, previously was a designer for hire, and have generally considered myself an artist since I was a young child. In addition to my own skill sets, my partner is a start-up entrepreneur running a successful venture capital-backed company, and tons of other good friends in the start-up space. I have many of the skills required to start a business at my fingertips.
"Oh, well, good for you. Why should I bother reading if I don’t have all those resources?" I’m sure you’re grumbling. That’s why I’m blogging about my experiences! I firmly believe that many of the people who wish they could have a successful business selling their homemade crafts can actually achieve that goal! Maybe not in just a few months, but with some dedicated time to reading, researching and experimenting, I believe almost anyone dedicated enough can have their own craft business. Many of the failed and floundering home-based craft businesses have several fatal flaws that are holding them back. I hope that by explaining what I am doing and why have made the decisions I have made then you will be able to better critically analyze your business, fix your weaknesses, and move your business into the next level.
So, are you with me? Lets do this together!
